Municipalities: Six municipalities have decleared themselves GMO-free: Ayios Athanasios, Egkomi, Larnaca, Latsia, Strovolos and Yermasogeia. Three others are in the process of doing so.
In Cyprus the authorities of the municipality of Ayios Athanasios, Egkomi, Larnaca, Latsia, Strovolos and Yermasogeia have passed declarations for GMO free zones, while three other municipalities are still in the progress of doing so: Mesa Yitonia, Kato Polenidia and Yeroskipou.
Blocs of Communities have also expressed their interest in declaring their areas GMO free zones.
The Association of Organic Farmers in Cyprus have started a campaign for a petition, supported by a large number of organisations, citizens movements and other bodies.
